Eclipse is located in beautiful Mahoning Valley just outside of Lehighton, Pennsylvania. We are approximately 1-1/2 hours North of Philadelphia and 1-1/2 hours East of Harrisburg. I got married in the year 2000 and had a beautiful baby boy in 2001. We live on a back road that even the locals never heard of. My friends all ask How did you ever find this place? We just smile and say, Dumb Luck. We call our small parcel of ground Paradise Landing. |
| I started with Borzoi in 1987, and quickly turned my attention to Whippets just a short 3 years later. While standing ringside with my Borzoi, watching the Whippet judging, my eye kept on returning to this one particular dog. Id never, in my short years of showing, seen such devotion, love and willingness to please in any dogs eyes. I saw it in this dog at every show Id seen him at. He was such a stallion of a dog, when in the ring his attitude was, HERE I AM, YOU ARE TO PICK ME. I just had to have a puppy of his. This young dog was Am/Can. MBIS/MBISS. Ch. Sporting Fields Kinsman, ROMX, winner of 59 all breed Best In Shows. | ![]() |
From Lukes
second litter came my foundation bitch, a Specialty Winner herself,
Seaspells
SF Lonesome Dove.
Along my 12 year journey with Whippets, I bought a 1-1/2 year old dog from Doug
& Ruth Broadfoot (Broadstrider). This being Ch.
Broadstriders Gorgeous George, who in turn sired one of Swedens
top Whippets and just last year sired "Zoey",
who is an Am/Can BPIS (Am Champion before the age of 1).
I have also incorporated some international bloodlines such as
Sac
A Malices (Karen Mesavage France) and Nevedith
(Nev & Editha Newton England). After years of minimal breeding these
bloodlines together, Im just starting to realize the importance of outside
bloodlines.
The ideal Whippet I strive to produce,
is to have large, round dark eyes, sweeping curves, lots of elegance and type.
Freedom of movement with long, low reach and drive so described in the Whippet
Standard. Be fierce enough to course and catch prey, yet gently enough to be
a well behaved companion.
I am forever grateful to my mentors, Debbie Butt and her mother, the late Donnie
Butt of Sporting Fields fame, for sharing with me their vast knowledge and insight
of this wonderful breed, the Whippet.
